BIRN manufactures, machines, assembles and coats iron castings. Environment, health and safety are managed and monitored effectively for all the processes involved.
The aim is that BIRN’s processes should be carried out in such a way that they have as little impact on the environment, health and safety as possible.
We are constantly seeking to improve our efforts with regard to the environment, health and safety and will work to ensure that these areas are given high priority and included in our other procedures.
We have to satisfy the following points in order to achieve our goals:
1. Current legislation and official requirements relating to the environment, health and safety must be complied with at all times.
2. We must strive to use environmentally friendly materials and processes while taking account of technical, financial and quality-related considerations.
3. We must work actively on an ongoing basis with a view to achieving optimum energy savings, particularly for the processes with a major impact on energy consumption.
4. Waste must be sorted with the emphasis on recycling and we must seek to reduce the amount of waste produced.
5. We must seek to reduce the scope of accidents by means of analysis and prevention.
6. The workforce must be motivated to comply with our environment, health and safety policies by means of information and training.
7. Management must ensure that goals and action plans are formulated, publicised and complied with.
8. We will communicate openly with the outside world about matters to do with the environment, health and safety.
9. Our environmental management system must at the very least satisfy the requirements of ISO 14001. Our health and safety management system must at the very least satisfy the requirements of OHSAS 18001. Our energy management system must at the very least satisfy the requirements of DS 2403.
