Machining

Castings can be processed by the machining departments at Vald. Birn A/S (Holstebro in Denmark), A/S Tasso (Odense in Denmark) or Kockums Maskin AB (Kallinge in Sweden).
Having three machining facilities gives us great flexibility, another advantage for our customers.
Strict reliability and quality requirements mean that our machining departments are equipped with robust, hi-tech machinery with both flexible and high-volume production cells that is constantly being added to.
BIRN’s machining departments have a wide range of machine tools, including:

CNC lathes (horizontal or vertical):
- Max. machining area. diam. 380 x 150 mm – diam. 1350 x 1000 mm
- Selected lathes with loading robot

CNC machining centres (horizontal or vertical):
- Max. machining area 300 x 400 x 400, 1000 x 630 x 630 and 800 x 800 x 800
- All with automatic tool and pallet changer

FMS cells with several machining centres (horizontal)
- Machining area: 800 x 800 x 800

FMC machining cells (horizontal)

- Two-spindle horizontal machining centres with automatic deburring and palletising

Quality measurement
3D-coordinate measuring machines and a wide range of inspection equipment are used for quality control.
